Air Duct Cleaning

24/7 Air Duct Cleaning Services In Houston

Breathe Fresher, Cleaner Air

Over time, air duct systems accumulate a buildup of dust, dirt, and debris that sticks to the inside walls of your air ducts, decreasing your indoor air quality and increasing the strain placed on your HVAC system. Proper cleaning and sanitization of air ducts will reduce the likelihood of contamination, increase system efficiency and lifespan, and improve overall indoor air quality.

Everything You
Should Know About
Air Duct Cleaning

01.

When Should Air Ducts Be Cleaned

If your home has a musty odor or you notice an accumulation of particles on your air vents, you may want to have your air ducts inspected. According to the EPA, there are three cases where your home’s air ducts should be cleaned:

  • There is substantial mold growth on any components of your HVAC system.
  • There are rodents or insects inside air ducts.
  • There is excessive dust, debris and/or particles released into the home from your supply registers.

02.

HVAC Duct Cleaning Benefits

Aside from just being gross, dirty air ducts can lead to other problems including increased energy costs, shortened equipment lifespan, and the health problems associated with breathing dirty air. The benefits of air duct cleaning include:

  • Improves Air Quality
  • Improves Energy Efficiency
  • Improves Air Flow
  • Reduces Allergens, Irritants, and Molds
  • Reduces Odors
  • Minimizes Dust
  • Extends the Lifespan of HVAC Equipment and Air Filters

The Duct Cleaning Process

Proper cleaning and sanitation of the air ducts is labor intensive and requires many important steps to be done correctly. At Northwind, our duct cleaning process is meticulous and thorough, cleaning every stage of the duct system.

  • Evaluate the age of the duct system and determine if duct cleaning is the appropriate option given the age.
  • Remove registers and clean them outside with water and a scrub brush.
  • Use a Roto Brush to clean & vacuum the dust and dander within the ductwork through the supply air register holes.
  • Use a Roto Brush a SECOND time to clean & vacuum the dust and dander within the ductwork. During this second pass, we will access the ductwork by detaching the duct from the supply plenum and cleaning from the attic out to the register.
  • Seal the supply duct back to the plenum.
  • Clean & seal the supply register box and reinstall the supply grille.
  • Empty gathered dust and dander into a trash bag outside.
  • Sanitize and Disinfect the air duct system to kill any remaining germs, bacteria, and viruses that could recirculate through your HVAC system.
  • Inspect the HVAC system one last time to ensure it has been fully sealed.
